How Does The Stay And Train Program Work?

The Stay and Train program is one of our most requested programs. First, we’ll set up an evaluation to learn how we can help you. Then, once we understand your dog training goals, we’ll customize a dog obedience training regimen or behavioral rehab program just for you and your dog.

Our Stay and Train program allows you to pick your training days of when you will drop off your dog for training and pick up at the end of the day.

Initial Dog Training Evaluation/Consultation

Our evaluation process is essential to us helping you. Your evaluation will consist of you meeting with Emily to discuss your goals for the training program and Emily will evaluate the dog’s individual personality and temperament. It is in your best interest to meet with her prior to having your dog come train with her to ensure that this program is the right fit for both you and your dog. The evaluation will last anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour as she assess your dog and together determine what type of training would be most beneficial. If you decide after your evaluation that the Stay and Train program is for you, you will be required to put down a deposit to hold your dogs spot for the month that you have picked based on trainer’s  availability. No spots are confirmed until the deposit has been made.

The start date for the Stay and Train is typically decided upon at the conclusion of the evaluation.

Pricing for the Stay and Train is determined after doing your evaluation.

Stay and Train
During the Stay and Train  program your dog will be teamed up to a trainer for his/her entire program duration. This allows your dogs to get one on one attention at all times and provides significant amount of training time. Every dog that comes to the Stay and Train program, gets a personalized training program created just for them. Dogs attending this program may be picked up and dropped off for several days or weeks depending on owner’s availability and commitment.

Introduction/ Trust Building Phase
During the first few days to a week we are getting to know your dog, his/her personality and best way they learn. There isn’t a lot to report to owners during this period of the program. Up dates and before and after videos are usually emailed in after the first 3/4 weeks but this can vary.

Teaching phase
This is the longest of the phases and the most important. We first test your dogs skill level in various areas and then work on anything that requires additional attention. Dogs attending for fears, phobias or aggression, tend to take longer than regular obedience cases. Dogs that are admitted for aggression or fear issues, will go through a rehabilitation process. This is a program that was created to boost confidence and train the dog to properly handle their everyday world.

Enforcement Phase
Once your dog has learned the exercises we begin enforcing the commands with you during private one on one lessons.

The Turnover Process: We’ll Teach You to Continue the Training
It’s great to train dogs, but if we simply trained your dog and then sent them home to you, our program wouldn’t be complete. Because of this we have carefully crafted a training program for you too. You will receive private lessons after your dog checks out of the program and the program wont be complete until the second part, training you, has been done and you are comfortable with the handling of your trained dog.

If you are not happy with the training results after you and your dog have completed the program, just give us a call and we will set you up with the best plan to ensure the results you are looking for. All deposits made and payments made for the Stay and Train program are final and we do not offer refunds. Please read and agree to any waivers before committing to any program.

Board and Train Follow Up Private Lessons
Clients get free private lessons (included in program) to ensure you know what to do with your dog and you learn the useful tools you will need to keep your dog’s training successful and consistent after returning home from our program. Please understand that by not coming in for your scheduled lessons, canceling follow up sessions and not following trainer’s guided instructions will void any guarantees and be detrimental to your dog’s learning process and results. The Board and Train program is not completed after your dog checks out. It is completed once you fully understand the requirements of training, how to handle the dog and be consistent at home. After reading and watching all of the course material the most important thing is for you is to take the leash as we coach you through the entire process. Typically, people walk in a little nervous about messing up their dog’s training. I promise, if you just try your best, you’ll do great! Remember that we’re your biggest fans, and we want you to succeed. At the conclusion of the second lesson, you get to take your dog home.

Outpatient Program
A trainer may recommend that at a certain point, certain dogs should participate in what we call an “outpatient program”. This may be because we have gotten the dog to a certain point and now we need to test out how the dog will do at home while still checking in a few days a week for training at our center. If a trainer recommends an Outpatient Program, this is included in your board and train program price.

Follow Up
After you take your dog home, we continue to partner with you to ensure that you’re progressing. Since dogs are always learning,it’s important that you continue to challenge them. Continued training ensures that your dog is getting the most from your relationship. We’ll always continue to make ourselves available to you through email or phone calls to ensure your complete satisfaction at no additional charge.
